The food scraps you recycle with CCKC don’t just disappear. They become nutrient-rich finished compost, a natural soil amendment for your garden and plants. As a thank-you for helping us close the loop, our customers have opportunities throughout the year to take some of that amazing compost home.
How to Claim Your Compost
Curbside Customers
Curbside customers can claim their free annual compost and order additional bags directly through your CCKC Portal Shop. Delivery and pickup options are available.
Bin Swappers
Bin swappers can get their compost through farm pickup or seasonal bagging events. Sign up for our newsletter to stay in the loop about upcoming dates.
Curbside Customers
You have several ways to receive finished compost throughout the year! All orders can be placed through the CCKC Portal Shop.
Free Shares
Every curbside customer can receive up to 2 free bags (about 25 pounds each) of finished compost each year. Delivery with your regular compost collection service is included.
Extra Bags
If you need more than your 2 free bags, limited quantities of additional bags are available for delivery year-round, and for farm pickup during Giveback Seasons. Fees apply.
Giveback Seasons
During our spring and fall Giveback Seasons, reserve extra bags for farm pickup or join us for a Bagging Event. Dates, details, and availability will be announced ahead of each season.
Bin Swappers
You can get your share of finished compost through seasonal farm pickup or our compost bagging events. Giveback dates and details are announced through our newsletter and social media.
Farm Pickup
Pick up finished compost directly from Urbavore Farm during designated pickup periods. Availability and pickup dates will vary throughout the year.
Bagging Events
Join us for one of our Volunteer Bagging Events! Help us bag the compost made from the food scraps you’ve helped divert, then take some home for your garden.
Need more compost?
Bulk pickup and delivery are available for customers, community members, and local organizations. Fill out this form or email us at hello@compostcollectivekc.com to discuss quantity and arrange pickup or delivery.
I have my bags, now what?
Now for the fun part! Apply your compost to potted house plants or outdoor garden beds for a boost of fertilizer and added water retention. Make sure to use it sparingly though; compost is extremely nutrient-dense, so a little goes a long way. Spread the compost throughout the top 2 inches of topsoil to prevent overdoing it. Enjoy the wonderful benefits of healthier plants & soil!

Volunteer Bagging Events
Join us during our spring and fall Giveback Seasons for community compost bagging events at Urbavore Urban Farm!
Help us bag the finished compost made from the food scraps our community has diverted, and take some home for your garden, plants, and soil. Come for an hour or make a day of it with family and friends.
Bagging events are family-friendly and open to the public. Please carpool when possible to help us make the most of our parking space.
