CSA & Produce Delivery
From Farm to Table... and Back Again
The farm-to-table movement celebrates eating local, seasonal food. CSA and produce delivery help close the loop.
When you add farm products to your curbside compost service, your weekly route becomes part of a larger cycle: food grown in your community, enjoyed in your kitchen, and eventually returned to the soil through composting to nourish local soil once again.
Every week, Compost Collective KC collects thousands of pounds of food scraps from households and businesses across the metro area and brings them to local farms where they are transformed into nutrient-rich compost. That compost helps grow the next season of food.
By pairing compost pickup with local food delivery, we can reduce extra trips across the city while making it easier for households to participate in a more regional, climate-positive food system.

A Full-Circle Food System
Most food in the United States travels hundreds or even thousands of miles before reaching your plate. Meanwhile, food scraps are hauled away to landfills where they generate methane instead of rebuilding soil.
We believe Kansas City can do things differently.
Our vision is a local system where food waste returns to nearby regenerative farms, where healthy soil grows nourishing food. Communities that have access to nutritious food stay connected to the land that feeds them.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a CSA?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. These shares, also called farm boxes, are a way to buy directly from a local farm by signing up for a “share” of their harvest. Each week during the designated season, you get a curated selection of the best of the harvest while directly supporting the farmers who grow your food.
Our CSA is about more than just weekly produce. It’s a really cool example of closing the loop: turning food waste into fertile soil, growing nutrient‑dense vegetables, and delivering that bounty straight to your door.
Do I need to be a CCKC customer to sign up for CSA delivery?
Yes, CSA delivery is currently available for active weekly curbside customers.
How much food is in a weekly share?
The “Herbivore” and “Omnivore” shares typically include 6–10 different produce items each week, depending on the season, with the addition of one dozen eggs in the Omnivore box. It’s generally enough for a family of four that cooks most meals at home — or a couple who loves veggies and cooks often.
The “Omnivore Plus” share includes everything in the Omnivore box, plus eggs and pastured pork, and is geared toward folks who want a more fully local/organic diet.
Will I know what's coming in my share each week?
We will send out a weekly packing list that gives a good sense of what to expect in your upcoming share. Because shares are delivered across different days and routes, we’re not able to provide an exact item list ahead of time.
Brooke from Urbavore Farm has a weekly newsletter which is great for staying on top of what’s in season and getting inspired by her curated recipes.

Can I change or cancel my share?
Because farmers rely on CSA purchases to plan and grow crops for the entire season, downgrading or canceling shares isn’t possible at this time. If your share ends up being more than you need, the farm is happy to donate any excess to families in need.
If you would like to upgrade your share, this may be possible depending on availability. Please email hello@compostcollectivekc.com to discuss options.
What if I am out of town or need to skip a week?
You have a couple of options! You can have your box delivered as usual and arrange for a friend or neighbor to pick it up and enjoy that week’s share, or you can choose to donate your share to a local family to ensure nothing goes to waste
Do I need to subscribe to a CSA to get produce delivered?
Yes! All curbside compost customers have access to fresh, seasonal farm products through the Account Portal Shop.
Weekly compost customers can order both CSA shares and à la carte produce, while biweekly customers have access to à la carte produce ordering only.
About Urbavore Farm
Our farm products and CSA shares are grown at Urbavore Urban Farm, a small urban farm in Kansas City focused on sustainable growing practices, soil health, and community food access.
A wide variety of seasonal vegetables, herbs, greens, flowers, and specialty crops can be spotted on this farm right here in the city. Their produce is harvested fresh and delivered directly to Compost Collective KC customers, helping support a more connected and resilient local food system.
Urbavore is also home to our compost site, where food scraps collected across the metro are transformed into nutrient-rich compost for local farms and gardens. Together, we’re building the kind of future we believe in: one rooted in local food, healthy soil, regenerative agriculture, and strong community partnerships.
We’re proud to partner with local growers to make fresh, seasonal food more accessible and convenient for our community.
