Event Composting
Events can generate a lot of waste, but yours doesn’t have to!
Whether you’re planning a community festival, wedding, fundraiser, conference, farmers market, or company gathering, Compost Collective KC can help divert food scraps from the landfill and turn them into nutrient-rich compost.
We’ll provide the collection equipment, signage, and support you need to make composting simple for your attendees and organizers alike.
Compost Collective KC is subject to alter the total price if volume of waste exceeds tote capacity or if length of event exceeds 3 hours when staff coverage is necessary.
Planning Your Event
Most events can be managed with self-service collection stations and clear signage. For larger events, Compost Collective KC staff may be required to help monitor sorting stations, reduce contamination, and educate attendees about proper composting practices.
- CCKC staff coverage is required for events with more than 500 attendees.
- Smaller gatherings (under 30 attendees) or those with minimal organic waste may find our Bin Swap Program to be a more economical option.
- If your event includes multiple food vendors, we generally recommend composting food waste only and sending packaging, cups, plates, and utensils to the landfill.
- If you would like to compost serviceware and packaging, all items must be verified as certified compostable before the event.
- Our standard service window is 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Please coordinate with your venue to arrange delivery and collection of the totes during these hours. Events requiring delivery, pickup, or staff coverage outside of our service window are subject to availability and may incur additional fees.
