Giveback Program

Twice a year, CCKC offers finished compost (nutrient-dense soil for your garden) to all of our curbside + bin swap subscribers. This compost is created from the food scraps YOU recycle, so we know it’s the good stuff (aka Nature’s Black Gold).

How to Claim Your Compost

Curbsider?

Reserve your bags of compost through your CCKC Portal during our spring & fall giveback windows. You will receive an email when the order form is live with further ordering details.

Bin Swapper?

Sign up for our email list here, follow us on social media (@compostcollectivekc) or check back on our website for giveback updates. You can also attend our Volunteer Bagging Events to take home your free bag of compost.

Spring 2026 Compost Giveback Info

Bin SwappersCollect your free share of compost from any of the following options:

  • Bagging Events: Join us at one of our upcoming Volunteer Bagging Events! These family-friendly events are open to the public and are a great opportunity to take home free compost while seeing our mid-size composting facility in action. See more info below.
  • Leftover Compost Bags: Prefer pre-bagged compost? Any leftover bags from bagging events will be stacked in the front lot at Urbavore Farm starting Monday, April 13. These are available first come, first served while supplies last at the front lot of Urbavore Farm.

Curbsiders – Collect your free share of compost from the farm or choose convenient home delivery through your online portal!

  • Reserve by Friday, March 27th to claim your compost shares through your Online Portal Shop.
  • Choose $5 Home Delivery or Free Farm Pickup during the online ordering process.

  • Curbside customers are also welcome to collect extra compost at Volunteer Bagging Events as needed!

I have my bags of compost, now what?

Now for the fun part! Apply your compost to potted house plants or outdoor garden beds for a boost of fertilizer and added water retention. Make sure to use it sparingly though – compost is extremely nutrient-dense, so a little goes a long way. Spread the compost throughout the top 2 inches of topsoil to prevent overdoing it. Enjoy the wonderful benefits of healthier plants & soil!

Spring 2026 Volunteer Bagging Events

Join Compost Collective KC for our bi-annual bagging events! Choose between an after-work happy hour or a morning with coffee & pastries to help our team bag up the fresh finished compost, then take home a free bag for your much appreciated assistance – your garden will thank you!
